Aphrodisiacs

According the dictionary an aphrodisiac is a food or drink that is said to stimulate sexual desire.  The originates from Aphrodite the Greek goddess of love and beauty. Aphrodisiacs were very much a part of ancient times and each culture had its own favored aphrodisiac food and drink, although most not so different to today.  Although there were a few weird ones!

How much scientific evidence actually supports the theories around certain foods increasing sexual abilities is minimal. However, as the old saying goes, ‘you are what you eat’ and because of this, what you eat will directly influence your body and the health of all its functions – including your sex life.

Eating healthy food affects your hormones, your brain chemistry, your stress levels and your energy levels which in turn all affect our ability to perform sexually. All of the foods listed are healthy, and some can actually increase blood flow to the genitals. Some foods are deemed aphrodisiac purely because of the psychological element of suggestion.
